Zenaida Stabryn
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother Zenaida Stabryn on September 17, 2017 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her husband Iwan Stabryn and her son-in-law Asko Kujansuu. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Sylvia Kujansuu of Victoria, B.C. and Christine Schmidt of West St. Paul, Manitoba, granddaughter Sonja Kujansuu of Oxford, U.K., grandson Anton Kujansuu of Tampere, Finland, son-in-law David Schmidt and grandson Daniel Schmidt.
Zenaida was born in 1928 in Idalina, Belarus to Ivan and Anastasia Zuk and had one brother Nikolai who died in infancy. She married Iwan Stabryn in Oldham, U.K. where their daughter Sylvia was born. They immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where their daughter Christine was born. Zenaida had a long career in food services with Eaton’s but especially enjoyed cooking for her family and tending to her plants and garden. Her great strength and spirit will be missed and remembered by her family.
A private funeral was celebrated by Father Thomas of St. Nicholas Monastery & Church on September 22, followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery.
