Bohdan Smycniuk
September 22, 1942 – November 22, 2019
Bohdan Vladimir Smycniuk was born on September 22, 1942 in Germany to Alex and Maria Smycniuk during the WWII. They immigrated to Canada and settled in Ituna, Saskatchewan farming area in 1947. Bohdan had various jobs but enjoyed working as a first responder and weather advisor in the north for oil exploration and gold mines. Bohdan’s passion was working with Ukrainian Youth and travelling. He retired in Winnipeg but continued assisting in the office and the cemetery at St. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. He then took on the duties of caretaker at Selo Villa until his health declined.
Bohdan was pre-deceased by his parents. He is survived by his sister Stephanie (Dave), Paddle, Sister Larissa (Ron) Hadley, brother Orest (Kim) Smycniuk, nephews Connel (Rene), Dean (Sara) and Leslie Witzaney, Mark (Jennifer) Smycniuk and nieces Kendra, Erin (Tom) Eggers, Sarah (Dave) Sutfin and great nieces and nephews Caleigh, Cole, Piper, Addison, Wyatt and Silas.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Winnipeg Ukrainian Cultural Centre (Oserodok) would be greatly appreciated.
