MARCEL HUGH WEBSTER

March 8, 1956 – November 23, 2018

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Marcel Webster in Winnipeg on November 23rd, 2018 at the age of 62 after his battle with cancer.

Marcel is survived by his wife Patricia, step-children, Colin Anderson (Danielle), and Brent Anderson; Grandson, Carter; his parents, Elizabeth and Marcel Webster; and his siblings Mark (Maxine), Liz (Brian), Debbie (Loren), and Jack.

Marcel was born on March 8, 1956 in Lachine, QC to Elizabeth and Marcel Webster.  His family relocated to Winnipeg, where Marcel remained in Winnipeg for the duration his adult life. During his high school years, he made many lifelong friendships. He graduated from Silver Heights Collegiate in 1975.  He worked at Manisphere (Red River Ex) throughout his teenage years. In 1978 Marcel started working at Air Canada. He was hired on permanently in 1980, working on the ramp. In 2017 he retired from Air Canada to enjoy spending time at home.

Marcel was a strong-willed, kind individual who loved body-building, and working out. He participated in the Mr. Manitoba competition, receiving a medal June 30, 1978 at the Red River Exhibition. He was passionate about health and exercise, and he loved to indulge in watching strong man competitions. 

He had a strong love of animals, and will be greatly missed by his constant companion Baxter, a beautiful Husky-Collie cross. Marcel always made sure that he had binoculars to look out the kitchen window at all of the birds and animals visiting the yard.

Marcel loved to be in the yard always thinking about what his next project would be.  He enjoyed just sitting in his chair on the patio admiring what he had accomplished since moving into the house.

Marcel was a social butterfly meeting people everywhere he went.  He could not go into a store without running into someone he knew and be gone for hours. Marcel will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Marcel's life will be held on November 30, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Korban Funeral Chapel, with a reception to follow. Colleen Olafson will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marcel's life.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Marcel may be made to Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter. The family would like to thank the hospital staff on GH6 at Health Sciences Centre, CancerCare Manitoba, his many doctors/nurses for their selflessness and the incredible quality of care.

 Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday
