Mary Davison Obituary

Mary Magdelena Davison  (nee Niesner)

Peacefully, at Deer Lodge Centre, Mom passed away on May 4, at the age of 90. She was born June 28, 1928 in Zichydorf, Yugoslavia. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1929 and settled in Regina, Saskatchewan. After graduating Mom worked for Imperial Oil in Regina. In the years following she met and married her husband Jack Davison. They were married for 63 years until Dad’s passing in June of last year.  They moved to Winnipeg where she was a stay at home mother to their three children; Bob, Pat and Alan as well as doing volunteer work for St. Amant Centre. After her children were grown, she worked for the River East School Division as a school secretary at Chief Peguis and Salisbury schools.

Mom kept active with curling, bowling, square dancing and golfing. Her proudest golf moment was achieving a hole in one at the Harborview Golf Course. She enjoyed reading and spent many hours creating beautiful needle point pictures.  Mom was a long-time parishioner of St. Alphonsus Church where she also belonged to the Catholic Women’s League.

Mom and Dad loved to travel together; cruising and touring all over the world.  For years the month of March was spent in Palm Springs with her brother Adam and his family.

Mom’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She hosted “Sunday Supper” for us children and our families for over thirty years where we were guaranteed many laughs and great food served with love.

She is survived by her children Bob (Michelle), Pat Korpesho , Alan (Vanessa) , her grandchildren; Falynn, Joel, Lindsay (Derek), Wade (Samantha) Reid (Alexandra), Hunter, her step-grandchildren; John, Sarah (Kris), Carter, Blayne, Rosie, Robbie, her great-grandchildren; Sophie and Benjamin and step-great-grandson Ayden. She was pre-deceased by her grandson Todd Davison (2006) and son-in-law Dave Korpesho (2010).

We would like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre, Lodge 4W, for their compassionate care of our mother and for the support they gave our family.

Memorial Service will be held at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 341 Munroe Avenue on Tuesday May 14 at 10:30 a.m.
