Paul Mazur Obituary

PAUL BOLESLAW MAZUR

Loving husband, father and grandfather, family meant everything to Paul. Predeceased by his parents Anna (Solateki) and Paul Francis Mazur, and brother Frank Mazur, he leaves his beloved wife, Louise (Stadelmeir), daughters Mary (Ken Charleson) and Christine, and grandchildren Anna, Jessica, Sarah, and Daniel.

Born in Winnipeg, Paul was raised in a family strong in love and faith. He shared his love of the outdoors with all his relatives, and everyone was always welcome at the cottage, first, at the one he built in the Whiteshell as a young man, and later, his retirement project in Nopiming. “The lake” was, without fail, his weekend destination and preferred place to be.

He met the love of his life, Louise, at the Canadian Grain Research Laboratory, where he worked as a lab technician for over three decades, and enjoyed rich life experiences working with and learning from internationally recognized Canadian researchers.

Paul was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus throughout his life, and was an active volunteer at various community events and his daughter’s schools. Together, he and Louise enjoyed art and music, putting their daughters through lessons of both. An avid swimmer and runner in his early years, he encouraged an active family lifestyle.

Spending time with family was important to Paul, and in recent years, being surrounded by his grandchildren brought him joy. He was a man of incredible patience, kindness, and gentleness. Through the trials of failing health in his later years, he held firm to his faith in God, maintained his sense of humour, and demonstrated his love and concern for others.

Paul’s family is most thankful to the staff at Poseidon Long Term Care Centre for their attentive and thoughtful care and kindness.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25th at St. John Brebeuf Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, with Fr. Wayne Morrissey officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
