It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ross Lewis on September 16, 2017 at Parkview Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He is predeceased by his brothers Charlie (Joy) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Johnny (Sandy) of Nikomis, Saskatchewan. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jo-Ann (nee Pompana), his brother Gary (Maureen) of Perth, Ontario, his sisters Joyce (Gordon) of Creston, B.C. Shirley in Newmarket, Ontario and Elaine (Garth) of Ottawa, Ontario, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ross also had two friends who he called “brothers”, Gordon Glover of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and more recently Norman McKay of Winnipeg.
Ross was born on June 16, 1941 in Perth, Ontario. He later moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where he lived and worked and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In the mid 1980’s he moved to Winnipeg, where he worked with Cunningham Business Interiors for 22 years.
Ross belonged to the Oriole Bowling League in Winnipeg and also enjoyed golfing. Ross was a “jack of all trades” fixing small appliances, building decks, fences and other carpentry projects. Ross was also a good home cook and enjoyed cooking for friends and relatives. Ross joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in June 2016 and was ordained to the office of Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood on July 24th, 2016.
Ross was hard-working, compassionate, friendly, outgoing and willing to try anything new.
A celebration of Ross’s life and a memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 700 London Street on Saturday September 23, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation has already taken place at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street.
