Adeline Tokariwski Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Adeline Florence Tokariwski (née Churush) on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the age of 91. After a brief illness, Adeline went to be with the Lord, surrounded by the love and presence of her family.

Adeline was born on May 10, 1934, in Cook’s Creek, Manitoba, to Joseph and Caroline Churush. She moved to Winnipeg at the age of eight, where she continued her schooling and built the foundation of the life she would lovingly devote to her family. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Frances Semeniuk, her beloved husband Jaroslav (Jerry) Tokariwski, with whom she shared 66 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2020, and her son Randy.

Adeline met her lifelong partner, Jerry, at UNF and the two married in 1954, beginning a beautiful journey together. Prior to having children, Adeline worked at Anderson Animal Hospital where her gentle nature and love of animals shone brightly. With the birth of her first child, she embraced her most cherished role as a devoted wife and mother. When her children were older, she returned to the workforce, holding positions at the Manitoba Clinic and later with the Manitoba Government. She approached every chapter of her life with humility, dedication, and quiet strength.

Adeline was deeply proud of her Ukrainian and Polish heritage, values she carried with her throughout her life and passed on to her children and grandchildren. Her faith was a constant source of comfort and grounding, and she remained a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Father Isidore Dziadyk for his lifelong spiritual guidance and support.

Family was the center of Adeline’s world. She poured her heart into creating a warm, loving home and took immense pride in her sons, Gerald (Sharon) and Dean (Melissa). Her four grandchildren — Bri‑ann (Blaine), Kylie (Tristan), Jenna, and Daniel (Hailey) — were her greatest joy. She spoke of them often, celebrated their accomplishments, and cherished every moment spent with them.

Adeline also adored her “fur grandchildren” — three beloved dogs who brought her endless happiness. Her eyes would light up the moment they entered the room, and the affection between them was unmistakable.

One of Adeline’s happiest places was the family cabin that Jerry built in the early 1970s. For Adeline, the cabin was more than a retreat; it was a sanctuary filled with memories, laughter, and the simple joy of being together. It remains a treasured part of the family’s story and legacy.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for the exceptional care they provided after her back surgery limited her mobility. Sincere thanks are also extended to the teams at St. Boniface Hospital — including the High Acuity Unit, Vascular Surgery, Recovery, and Step‑Down Unit — for their remarkable and compassionate care during her final days.

A funeral service to honour Adeline’s life will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Korban Funeral Home.  For those unable to attend, the funeral will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/korbanchapel/

Honoured to carry Adeline to her final resting place are Daniel Tokariwski, Murray Creran, Tristan Shute, Blaine Davidson, Cory Finnigan, and Cory Leclair, each holding a special place in her life and in the life of her family.

Adeline will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering devotion to her family, her deep faith, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
