It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexandra Pauline on June 12, 2022, at Holy Family Home at the age of 94.
Mama is now reunited with her beloved husband, Pawlo (1993), her daughter, Stephanie (2016), her parents, Dmytro and Maria Moroz, her sisters, Tekla and Ada, and brothers, Harry, Frank, Joe, Peter, Mike, Nick, Tom and Alex. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Marijka (Wolodymyr), grandchildren Ariadna and Taras, in-law, Zina Dlugosh, and nieces and nephews in Canada and Ukraine.
Mama was born in Rackham, Manitoba to Ukrainian pioneers, Dmytro and Maria Moroz. Her parents instilled in her strong Ukrainian Catholic values, and a love for the Ukrainian language, culture and traditions.
Mama moved to Winnipeg in 1952. There she met Pawlo Diakiw. They married in 1955 and welcomed their first daughter, Marijka, in 1956. The arrival of their second daughter, Stephanie, in 1963 completed their family.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Holy Family Home and in particular to the staff of St. Joseph’s Unit on 4A for the love, care and compassion that they gave to Mama. She loved them as much as they loved her. In addition, the family would like to thank Drs. Taras and Andrea Babick for looking after Mama all these years and taking great care of her.
