Alexandra Zywylo
The family is saddened to announce the passing of Alexandra Zywylo on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
Alexandra was born in a Ukrainian refugee camp in Cornberg, Germany. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1949 and grew up on Scotia Street in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her parents, Petro and Maria Zywylo, and brothers George, Bill, and John. She is survived by her sister Olga Onyschuk (Don), sister-in-law Lena Zywylo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who admired her wisdom, kindness, and sense of humour.
Adventurous from an early age, Alexandra moved to London, England at age nineteen and was employed with the Ministry of Technology. Returning to Winnipeg two years later, Alexandra’s career primarily consisted of working for the Royal Bank of Canada and New Flyer Industries, where she developed life-long friendships.
Alexandra lived her life to the fullest and had a passion for travel, especially throughout Europe, enjoying many vacations with family and friends. She was also an art and culture enthusiast, attending various local events regularly including the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Manitoba Opera, and Folklorama. Alexandra loved spending time with family and her presence at family get-togethers will be so deeply missed.
Alexandra was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage, and in lieu of flowers, we ask you to consider making a donation to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal through Canada-Ukraine Foundation at www.cufoundation.ca or a charity of your choice.
