April 16, 1936 - May 24, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Alice Kruszynski (Iwanuck) on May 24th, 2020. Alice was surrounded in love with her husband and eldest daughter at her side. Her other children, grandson and many family friends were with her in spirit.
Alice’s joy and love of life, many friendships, infectious smile and laughter, will be cherished by her family: Frank, husband and best friend of 63 years; her children, Chris (Pam), Gwenn, Karen (Terry), Glen (Monique), grandson, Justin; brother, Peter; and niece and nephew, Theresa (Terry) and Andrew; and her many friends.
Alice was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 16, 1936. She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Anna Iwanuck (Tryhuk). Alice moved to Kirkland Lake, Ontario at the young age of two. Upon the passing of her father, Alice’s mother returned to Winnipeg with Alice and her brother, Peter. Alice grew up and lived most of her life in the North End of Winnipeg. She met Frank while both were at Isaac Newton High School. Alice and Frank were married in September 1957. After their children went off to further pursue their academic studies, Alice and Frank took the opportunity to spend time living in Ottawa, Ontario. They eventually returned to Winnipeg and spent many years enjoying their cottage at Grand Beach.
Throughout her life Alice loved to travel, enjoy the warmth of the sun, and the many summers at the beloved cottage at the lake. She loved to entertain family and friends alike. Alice enjoyed teaching her children and grandson how to cook and bake the old family recipes that were passed down from her mother before her.
The family thanks the staff at Misericordia Health Center, and at St. Joseph Residence for the compassionate care they gave her over the last few years. Thanks very much to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their committed, tireless effort, and caring attention for Alice through the last few weeks of her life.
A funeral mass will be said for Alice on Thursday May 28th, 2020 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. A recording of the mass will be available on the Korban Funeral Chapel website. A celebration of Alice's life will be held at a later date when all of her family and friends can gather. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.
