Anna Jarczak Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anna Jarczak at Holy Family Home, Winnipeg Manitoba, Saturday, December 28, 2019.

Anna was born in Geroldshausen, Wolnzach Germany, and grew up there on a Farm with her Father Martin, Mother Cecilia, brother’s Max, Albert, Martin, Sisters Maria, Cecilia, & Elsa. Anna also talked fondly for hours about her Grandmother (Dads Mom) who lived with them Anna Gimpel.

Anna started working out of home at the age of 14 as a Cook for 200 people in the summer. At the age of 17 Anna left the farm and moved into the City where she worked as a Nanny for the US Army. Annie stated that was the best time of her life.

Anna married Bonislawa Jarczak in 1949. They left Germany to come to Canada in 1953. Anna worked as a sewing factory supervisor at Bonwit Sewing Factory for 35 years. Her hobbies included her gardening, knitting, crocheting  and sewing. Anna loved animals and her house was never without 2-3 pets at a time. Anna was a active volunteer at Holy Family Home for 20 years. Many new her as the Bird Lady or the same day seamstress service.

Anna’s pride and joy was Holy Families Parrot Paully, that she cared for for close to 20 years. They were inseparable and Paully’s death as she put it was one of the saddest days of her life. Anna moved into The Seniors Tower adjoined to Holy Family Home 17yrs ago and in November, 2019 she  joined her family on St. Martha’s 4C Unit at Holy Family Home.

Anna leaves to mourn her best friend Cindy Hayman better know as her adopted daughter, and her family in Germany, Sister Elsa and a special nephew Hans (Annelies), and many other nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by many close friends.

A huge Thank you to Holy Family Home staff and recently St.Martha’s Unit 4C Staff for all the love compassion and friendship shared with Anna.

Service will be held at Korban Chapel at 907 Main Steet, 10:00am Saturday January 4, 2020. Private burial to follow.
