Antonio Lavy Carrion

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved Antonio Eduardo Lavy Carrion on February 8, 2022, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada at the age of 71 after an unexpected and short battle with pneumonia. He will be greatly missed by his wife Irma; his children Lalo, Gary, Luis, Rosie, Mayra and Andrea; siblings, Ruth, Raul, Jorge and Hugo; and countless family and friends

Antonio was born in Lima, Peru to Antonio Lavy Ramos and Irene Carrion Nuñes. He was the youngest of eight siblings: Ruth, Carlos, Olga, Raul, Jorge, Hugo, and Laura Lavy Carrion.

Antonio did his schooling and started his work life in Lima, Peru. He worked in many places as a program analyst with his longest and fondest memories being at Vencedor Industries. In 1983 he visited Canada for the first time and fell in love with the country, so in 2000 he immigrated with his family and lived in Ontario for a couple of years and later relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was in Winnipeg where he had an encounter with God and surrendered his life to Him. He joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in 2004 and was a faithful and active member of Nueva Esperanza until his last days. 

Antonio was loved by all who met him. He was the joy at every gathering. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humour, love for talking and his thoughtful heart for people’s needs.

Antonio believed in Jesus’ second coming and he went to sleep with the hope that on that glorious day, at the sound of the trumpet, his name would be called.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 7:00 pm at Henderson Highway Seventh-Day Adventist Church. 

Es con profundo pesar en el corazón, que nuestra familia anuncia el fallecimiento de nuestro amado, Antonio Eduardo Lavy Carrion el 8 de febrero del 2022 en Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canadá, a la edad de 71 años, luego de una inesperada y corta batalla contra la neumonía. Sera extrañado por su esposa Irma; sus hijos Lalo, Gary, Luis, Rosie, Mayra y Andrea; sus hermanos, Ruth, Raul, Jorge y Hugo; e innumerables familiares y amigos.

Antonio nació en Lima, Perú, hijo de Antonio Lavy Ramos e Irene Carrión Núñez. Era el menor de ocho hermanos: Ruth, Carlos, Olga, Raúl, Jorge, Hugo y Laura Lavy Carrión. Antonio realizó sus estudios y comenzó su vida laboral en su ciudad natal. Trabajó en muchos lugares como analista de programas y sus mejores y más largos recuerdos fueron en Industrias Vencedor SA.

En 1983 visitó Canadá por primera vez y se enamoró del país, por lo que en el año 2000 decidió migrar con su familia, donde vivió en Ontario durante un par de años, para luego mudarse a Winnipeg, Manitoba, lugar donde tuvo la maravillosa experiencia de encontrarse con Dios para entregarle su vida. Se unió a la Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día en el 2004, siendo un miembro fiel y activo en Nueva Esperanza, hasta el final de sus días. 

Antonio fue amado por todos los que lo conocieron. Él era la alegría de cada reunión. Siempre será recordado por su sentido del humor, palabra fácil y un corazón siempre atento a las necesidades de las personas.

Antonio creía en la segunda venida de Jesús y se durmió con la esperanza de que, en ese día glorioso, cuando suene la trompeta, se pronunciará su nombre.
