With sadness the family of Armand Nerbas announce his passing on Friday, April 3, 2020
Armand Warren Nerbas was born on July 11, 1957 in Regina, Saskatchewan, the son and third child of Frank Nerbas and Margaret Schentag. He spent his first two years in Wilcox Saskatchewan and then the family moved to Swan River Manitoba, where he started school. After his mother passed away in 1963 the family subsequently moved to Langenburg, Saskatchewan in 1965.
Armand met the love of his life, Nola Welke, in Langenburg and they married on November 15, 1975, when he was 18 and she was 16. Their first daughter Jennifer was born in 1976 and their second daughter Megan was born in 1986.
Armand earned his journeyman ticket as an electrician, and he worked at Allan potash mine, Finley Forest Products in Mackenzie B.C., Great Western Forestry in Prince George, B.C., Gainers in Edmonton, and the potash mine at Rocanville before moving to CocaCola in Winnipeg, where he worked for 29 years until the plant closed.
Armand was a generous friend, steadfast brother, loving grandfather, and he and Nola raised two exceptional young women. He enjoyed playing with his toys - snowmobiling and quading with his friends, fishing, boating and his cabin - until his and Nola’s worsening health made that too difficult. He was a vocal Saskatchewan Roughrider fan in a sea of Bomber Blue. He enjoyed watching his grandsons Justin and Jaxen play hockey, and spending time with Jennifer, Steve and the boys at the beach. He was looking forward to visiting Megan and Craig in PEI this summer, but that was not to be. He faced his last battle with cancer with courage and fortitude, and was taken from us too soon.
Armand was predeceased by his parents and a sister. He is survived by his wife Nola of Winnipeg, daughter Jennifer and her husband Steve Joyal, and grandsons Justin and Jaxen of Winnipeg, daughter Megan and her partner Craig O’Neill of Summerside PEI, and his sister Myrna of Calgary.
Friends and family so wishing may make donations to the Arthritis Society, Prairie Division or D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre.
