It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Bev Lewicki (Nee Choma) on November 11, 2025 together with her husband of 48 years by her side.
Beverley was born to Steve and Mary Choma in Teulon, Mb, who both had predeceased her. She was raised on the family farm in Narcisse, Mb, with her siblings Dan Choma (Pat), Marilyn Enstrom (Roger), Nancy Masniuk (Ray), Connie Polischuk (Jim) and Gwen Barra (Chico). Mom often shared stories with her family about how she flourished in her love for all animals on the farm, such as nursing a pet duck back to health and looking after many dogs and cats. Even a rooster that used to give her a hard time in the barn until the day Giddo witnessed mom being picked on and mentioning something about later that day the family enjoyed Babas’ amazing chicken soup.
Moms empathetic and compassionate virtues translated into her career in nursing, first as an LPN at St. Boniface Hospital in 1977, later evolving to her own business nursing in foot care, lastly transitioning to WRHA Access River East where she retired.
Mom was married to Dad on June 18th, 1977 and starting a young family of her own, Jeff born 1979 and Kevin 1982. The family very much enjoyed visiting the farm Mom grew up on where Aunty Marilyn, Uncle Roger, cousins Melanie and Chad had continued the family tradition. She enjoyed showing her children many things about farm life and the spoils of which the land in the Interlake had to offer. Her family often remember coming into the farmhouse in the early afternoon to find freshly picked saskatoon pierogi, freshly made buns, fresh cream with blueberries from the Inwood creamery, pedpenky and many things the farm produced.
Mom and Dad had a love for the outdoors. There were many adventures and camping trips enjoyed with their kids travelling across Canada and into the U.S. The family later began making great memories at the family cabin Mom and Dad purchased at Wanipigow Lake in 1995. There were many fishing adventures, hunting, and enjoyment just being at the cabin, where only a bottle of wine or 2 were enjoyed by Mom in the veranda overlooking the amazing scenery and sunsets Wanipigow Lake has to offer. Mom often enjoyed just sitting at “Babas’ Rock” fishing rod in hand where it wasn’t necessarily about the fishing but was clearly one of the many places where she found enjoyment.
Mom and Dad settled in their retirement from North Kildonan to Stonewall, Mb where mom continued her proficiency in sewing for many family, friends, and clients of her sewing business. When Mom wasn’t sewing, she joined with the “Quarry Choristers” and enjoyed singing in several events in and around Stonewall.
Mom has left to Mourn her two sons: Jeff (Keri) and Kevin (Anna) Lewicki. Her Grandchildren Sydney, Jackson, Elise and Finn who were her pride and joy. Many Nieces and nephews: Michelle Siguardson (Darren) and Lexa, Sabrina Choma, Melanie Arnold (Kurtis) Evan and Avery, Chad Enstrom (Megan) Bryce, Cole, Prescott and Quinn, Tarah Masniuk (Neil) Isla and Liv; Bertine Faria (Leah) Gabriel and Aerius; Wyatt Masniuk (Kelsey); Logan Masniuk, Alison Coe (Travis) Sadie and Ellis, April Polischuk, Hope Jodoin (Anthony) Xena, whom all she was very proud of, often sharing stories about the path all have chosen and how happy that made her.
At Moms and Dads wishes, Cremation has taken place for both of them. There will be a small private gathering to honor and celebrate the amazing memories the family have of Bev and Don Lewicki. Her sons would like to thank our amazing family, friends and coworkers who have compassionately surrounded us during this difficult time.
We would like to recognize their amazing neighbours: from North Kildonan Judy and Keith, Frank and Lorraine, in Stonewall: John and Melody, Annette and Mike, Jeff and Twylla and cousins Judy and Bill. In lieu of flowers the family asks a donation to Cancer Care Manitoba or charity of choice be made in honour of Mom.
Mom, as have recited the words of Robert Munsch many times: Love you for ever. We find comfort in believing you are with Baba, Giddo, Grandma, Grandpa and Aunty Pat once again.
