Brenda Reykdal Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Karen Reykdal, who died on April 20, 2026, at the age of 69. Brenda was a treasured friend whose kindness, loyalty, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Born on January 30th, 1957, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Brenda lived a life marked by humour and compassion for others. To friends, Brenda was a very dedicated, always there to support and help others in need when she could, and was always ready with a laugh and a listening ear. She showed enormous love for her family.

Brenda found great joy in gardening and watching hockey, football, and baseball.  She recently took up birdwatching while sitting outside having a smoke and became a neighbourhood watch volunteer, of course, while getting some fresh air.  Everyone stopped to say HI to her when she was outside, and Brenda always took the time to get to know every new dog or cat in the neighbourhood.  These passions reflected the way she lived—fully and with a huge heart. Some of our most cherished memories of Brenda include spending time at Winnipeg Beach with family, coaching ringette and softball, babysitting her niece and nephew, playing a variety of sports, and the last visit Sid had with Brenda in Red Deer. Whether it was shared coffees (or a drink), long conversations, laughter, mischief, or quiet moments just hanging out, these memories will be held close to our hearts.

Above all, Brenda will be remembered for her laughter and how she was such a great friend to everyone she met. Brenda made quick friends with everyone she met. Brenda’s absence leaves a profound void, but her presence will continue to be felt through the countless lives she touched.

Brenda is survived by her brother, Sid (Laurie), sister, Sandi, Aunty Patsy, and close family members and friends, and is lovingly remembered by Karen. Brenda was predeceased by many family members and was welcomed with love upon her passing.

You came back home, where hearts found peace,

A time so brief, yet so very sweet.

Though the days were few, they hold so dear,

A treasure we’ll keep, year after year.

In life, you were laughter, a friend to all,

Your kindness and joy, answering every call.

Your love of animals, with a heart so true,

Your bond reflects all you would do.

We’ll remember your smile, your love so bright,

Your spirit alive in every light.

For though you are gone, you’re still very near,

In every laugh, every memory is clear.

Forever cherished, forever missed,

Your love remains, a lasting gift.

Forever loved and always remembered.

A celebration of life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to an animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
