Cecil Horn Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cecil Cameron Horn at Vita Care Home in Vita, Manitoba on Sunday November 28, 2021 at the age of 86 years.  Cam was the husband and love of Jane’s life and father to Brent (Maggie), Darcy (Janice), Cheryl (Warren), Darlene (Derek) and Danielle (Cam).

And grandfather to CJ, Jeremy, Eric, Nick, Laura, Georgia, Tessa, Lisa, Ryce, Lori, Ethan, Emily. He is survived by his siblings Reg Horn(Linda)and Deanna McKinnon.  Cam was predeceased by his grandson Matthew Horn; his parents Bernice and Rhynard Horn; siblings Jerry, Donald and Mac.

Cam met Jane Parker in grade 1 in Sanford Manitoba, but  moved away to Brunkild.  Destined to be together, they crossed paths, fell in love and were married in 1960. Cam loved reading, swimming, camping, hunting, fishing and gardening and loved to laugh.  Cam took great pride in his children and grandchildren.

Dad worked hard and throughout his career he worked for Brown and Murray, Dominion Auto Electric, Industrial Truck, Piston Ring and Cam’s Electrical.  In a step towards retirement, Dad and Mom moved Cam’s Electrical to Stuartburn, Manitoba.  Dad had a talent of solving electrical and mechanical issues that others reached out to him for his expertise.  Cam and Jane set up their homestead in Stuartburn along the Roseau River.  When Dad retired he loved fishing from the side of the river right in his own backyard.  Cam also shared Jane’s passion for gardening while living on Waterford Street in Winnipeg and in Stuartburn.  They would start seedlings in early spring in the greenhouse then work alongside each other in the garden. When the grandchildren came out to visit you would see Grandpa ride the lawn mower like it was a race while he tried to stir up the occasional frog or garter snake for the grandchildren to scare grandma.

We would like to thank all the staff at Vita Care Home for making Dad comfortable and cared for during the last few years. And thank you to Korban Funeral Chapel in Vita for all your assistance.

There will be a memorial service in the summer, place and date are to be determined.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

“Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.”

Dad we will miss you and your contagious laugh dearly.  Rest easy.  Love you forever and always.
