Cecilia Borsa

We sadly announce that Cecilia Ann BORSA 80yrs (nee Lacroix, Sloma) had passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 5th, 2021.

Cecilia was born on January 4th, 1941 in Arborg, Manitoba to parents Walenty and Theresa SLOMA. She spent her early years in Arborg while attending school at the Convent. She is predeceased by both her parents and brothers, Adam, Anthony, and Edward.

She married in 1959 to Lucien LACROIX (predeceased) and had two children, Dolores and Raymond. The Family lived in Alonsa for a short time, and then she moved to Winnipeg with her two children to start a new life.

In 1973 she re-married to David Borsa and they remained in Winnipeg. She enjoyed various jobs as she worked at the Metropolitan Theatre, and became a School Bus Driver. Later on, she did childcare duties at her home while caring for relatives and neighborhood children, who aptly referred to her as Mrs. B. and of course "Baba" to her grandchildren.

She enjoyed singing at Church as she was a Parishioner at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. She enjoyed listening to music, going to dances, camping, and playing card games with friends from dusk to dawn.

She was an excellent cook and prepared many large family and friends gatherings with homemade perogies, stugenina, and vinatarta. She always welcomed extra guests as she would say just put out another plate, and boil another potato.

She is survived by her husband David, two children Dolores and Raymond, Daughter-in-law Jodine, and Grandchildren Lauren and Michelle, all of whom she loved very much.

Thank you to all the people from Vista Park Lodge and Winnipeg Hospitals for giving her the best treatment that she needed throughout her life.

Funeral and interment to take place on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St.Philips Neri Church in Arborg, Manitoba. Rev. Roy George VAZHAPLANKUDIYIL officiating.

A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.  Assisted by Korban Funeral Chapel.
