Chante CARL Gabriel Obituary

Chante CARL Steven Gabriel of Winnipeg, MB. Passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 27 years.

Carl was born on April 12, 1997, in Winnipeg Manitoba.

Carl leaves behind a loving family to mourn his passing and cherish countless fond memories. He is survived and loved by his mother, Morene Gabriel; his sisters, Nastassija Gabriel and Winonna Gabriel; and his brother, Lakota Gabriel. Carl is also deeply missed by his father, Nelson Chaske; his sister, Valene Starr; his brothers, Diamond Thorassie and Eric Thorassie; and his grandmother, Ivy Chaske.

He is lovingly remembered and honored by his many aunts and uncles: Sylvia, Gertrude, Cecil (Gwen), Richard (Samantha), John (Fran), Lillian, Emile, Lisa (Tim), Joanne (Darrell), Eleanor (Neal), Rick (Melissa), Lorie (Reynold), Fabian, Nick, Stephanie (Martin), and Melanie. Carl's cousins Cheyenne, Sebastian, Michael, and Melody, along with all of his cousins from Ebb and Flow, Rolling River, Skownan, and Mistawasis First Nation, also hold him close in their hearts.

Carl was predeceased by his beloved grandmother Theresa Houle, his grandfather Steven Gabriel, Nelson Bird, and Albert Thorassie, his uncle Ralph, his aunt Eileen, and his cousins Delaney, William, Natalie, John, Carl, and CJ.

He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Chante, more commonly known as Carl, was a kind, loving, and selfless individual, known for his hard work and dedication. He graduated from Fort Richmond Collegiate and pursued his passion for the culinary arts immediately after high school, aspiring to become a chef. Carl took great pride in mastering his craft, with a notable tenure at an upscale Japanese restaurant. Yet, his fondest memories in the kitchen came from his time working at a comedy club, where he would often share stories and photos of celebrity encounters after his shifts.

Outside of work, Carl was beloved by his peers and cousins, often found immersed in video games, spending long hours at his computer like many of his generation. However, there was a lesser-known but profoundly significant part of Carl’s life—his commitment as a Sundancer, walking the red road of traditional spiritual practices.

Carl’s message to the world was simple but powerful: be kind to one another and give selflessly.
