Connie Stefanyshyn Obituary

Connie Shirley Stefanyshyn

February 23, 1936 - December 13, 2023

Mom, 87 passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, at St. Boniface Hospital. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Stan, her children, grand and great-grandchildren, Dennis (Jan, Rob), Laurie (Gerry, Candis, Ryan, Zach, Kinley, Sara, Josh, Riley, Isla). Mom was predeceased by her parents Louise and Earl Templeton, her brother Lionel and sister Doreen. She will be sadly missed by her brother Ron, and many other extended family members and friends. Mom’s journey began growing up on the farm in the area of Austin, Mb. She worked at the Portage Hospital, moving later to Winnipeg and at Great West Life. It was at this time she met and married Stan and had 2 kids, Dennis, and Laurie. Soon after, Mom went back to work as a printer. Mom had so many interests and talents. She enjoyed painting and completed a houseful of beautiful artwork. Her love of music spans through the years to her younger days of going to all the dances and having a great time kicking up her heels. Mom loved her flower gardens. Every year she couldn’t wait to get outside and create another summer of colour and blooms. She loved entertaining and went all out making her place shine, cooking fancy food, and decorating with flowers. In the last few years, Mom still loved her plants inside and out on the balcony of their apartment. When she retired at 60 Mom began her music career involving lessons in recorder, ukelele and mouth organ. Mom loved to read anything and was so excited her apartment had a library. Mom and Dad made sure they travelled the world. Every year they had another adventure taking them to exciting places and bringing home new memories. To mom, family meant everything. She couldn’t wait for a phone call, a visit, and a gathering of her family and extended family. She loved hearing all about her grand and great-grandkids. Mom loved being out at the lake, dancing, singing, laughing, floating on the lake, playing cards and being with her family. Mom loved dogs and found immense joy in their companionship and affection. She had Lassie and Willie on the farm when she was young. Over the years she developed a strong bond with each of the family’s furry members. Mom, you will be missed, remembered, and loved…. always in our hearts! We are so grateful for all the condolences, support and kindness expressed during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Winnipeg Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. The Celebration of Life will be pushed back to January 27th, at Bourekvale Community Club. 100 Ferry Road at 11:00 AM. Visit Korban Funeral Chapel for a digital guest book and memory wall.
