It is with great sadness that the family of Edward (Ed) Mushaluk announces his passing on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Grace Hospital at the age of 87.
Leaving to mourn his loss is his wife Anne (Annie) of 33 years, son Joseph Mushaluk (Angie) and grandchildren Nathan, Noah & Alyssa Mushaluk, 3 step children and numerous step grandchildren/great grandchildren. Edward was predeceased by his parents, Stella and Harry and his first wife Olga of 22 years and granddaughter Alynia Mushaluk (2006).
Edward was born July 1, 1938 in Vita, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm in Caliento, Manitoba. Over the span of 55 years, Edward was happily employed in a variety of different jobs and roles. He worked at Maple Leaf construction for several years operating heavy machinery and then went onto automotive mechanics at Holiday Chev Olds and Eastern Chrysler where he honed his skills and excelled in fixing cars. He then moved on in a different career path, as head custodian at several schools in Seven Oaks School Division #10 until he retired in 2001. Retirement didn’t last long, as his hands had to keep busy. So, he decided to come out of retirement to work part-time as a custodian at several more schools in the River East School Division for a couple more years.
Dad had a love for cars and anything with an engine in it. When he wasn’t at work, you could always find him tinkering in his garage fixing someone’s vehicle or small engine. Even at the age of 84 he was out tinkering on his lawnmower and snowblower to get it to work. When he wasn’t working, which was minimal, he loved a good game of checkers with his grandkids and family. Furthermore, he loved to fish, hunt, play baseball, ladder ball and bocce and a good game of cards (Hola).
Dad embraced his roots in the Ukrainian tradition and was proud of his culture. As a young man and throughout his life, he could be found at various socials and dances enjoying polkas, waltzes and country music in the comradery of friends and family. Even into his late 70’s, he could still light up the dance floor with his smooth strides to a good Ukrainian beat. If he wasn’t on the dance floor, the radio was on in his garage on Saturday evening to the familiar beats of the Ukrainian Hour on CKJS.
