Edwin Ernie Hryciw (Ed)

Born March 10th, 1941 in Teulon, Manitoba

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Edwin Ernie, devoted husband, son, father and Gigi at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home on May 5th, 2021.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Gloria, daughter Michele, son Trevor and his two granddaughters Abigail and Witteney, who were the center of his world.  Gloria and Ed were married 51 years ago in the town of Komarno.  Also left to cherish his memory is his brother Stanley (Sue), sister-in-law Frances and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his infant son in 1973, parents Mike and Jean, brothers Harvey (Marie), Percy and grandpuppy Vegas.

At the age of 18, Edwin entered the work field as a salesman at Auto Electric.  He had stops at Franks Automotive and ProCar, thereafter he started his own company (E&H Distributor Ltd) in 2001 where he was still ordering and delivering parts for his numerous customers and friends until he was admitted into the hospital in November 2020.  When you needed a part for your vehicle, he was the one you called to get it no matter how hard it was to find.  Dad was a soft spoken, big hearted and loving person who enjoyed the simple things in life.  Although quiet and rarely complained, he always had his own way of showing his love.

In his past time, he enjoyed being part of the Knights of Columbus, going for drives to take pictures of all the wildlife with his wife.  His love for the highway was evident with the amount of miles he had on his vehicles.  But above all, from the way he lit up when he saw his granddaughters, it was obvious what he enjoyed the most.

We want to extend our thanks to the staff of St. Boniface hospital, but most of all Lynsey and the staff of St. Norbert Personal Care Home.  Although very brief, we knew dad was and would have been taken care of everyday.

A private family service will take place at St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church with interment at Holy family cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations in Edwins Memory can be made to st Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.
