It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Elizabeth, on December 30th, 2024
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Diane (Ron), Dennis (Shannon), Grandchildren Brian (Ali), Andrew (Alexis), Nicholas (Grazia), Daniel, Elaine, Collette, Laurie (Jeff), Great-Grandchildren Cooper, Jorden (Joanna), Nicholas (Kristine), Madisyn, Great-Great-Granddaughter Olivia.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, George and Paraskavia Rybak, five sisters, and three brothers. She was also predeceased by her husband, John, in 2003, after 53 wonderful years of marriage. When she could get John to take a break from work, they both loved fishing, especially at their outdoor escape, the cabin in Nutimik. She loved to play crib and travel, and had her pet Alfie to help get through the loss of her husband. In her later years she enjoyed the companionship of Tony.
She had an ear for music, learned to play the accordion, took singing lessons, sang in choir, and was an active volunteer with the Woman’s League. Elizabeth was very hard working and loved to cook for her family, on all the special occasions.
Elizabeth was born in Elma, MB, and moved to Winnipeg at an early age. She met and married John in 1950, and together they built a life of love and dedication while raising their family. They both worked for many years at CN Railways, where they shared a commitment to hard work and family values.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 100 Day Street, Transcona.
The family kindly requests no flowers. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her honour.
