It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beautiful soul, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, on Monday, January 31, 2022.
Elma McDougall was born on April 23, 1949, and lost her battle with cancer.
Elma was proceeded by her parents Jake and Betty Bergen and her twin brother Don, nephew Derek.
Elma will be sadly missed by her Daughter Sherry, Son Allister(Tanya) Grandchildren, Jorden, Justine, and Jade, Sister's Shirley( Chris), and Mary including numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.
She was truly a beautiful soul with a bright light and let that light shine. She was a kind and caring person and one strong lady, truly an angel on earth. We are proud to call her our mother.
Growing up, she moved around from province to province in a house trailer as her dad worked on the trans-Canada pipeline. They finally settled in Gretna Manitoba for a number of years before moving to Winnipeg when she was around 13 years old.
As a teenager living in Fort Rouge, she had many friends and loved to socialize. Some of her acquaintances were members of The Guess Who and some other local bands. She did love her music.
She met Allan when she was 18, and the two of them moved to Vermilion Bay Ontario, where her sister Mary and her family lived. They were there for a short period of time before moving back to Winnipeg to start their family.
She had a good work ethic and goals and aspirations for herself working many different jobs throughout her life. The ones that stick out the most are Ktel Records and Hangers Fashion Warehouse.
On the weekend she enjoyed playing cards with friends and family every Sunday would be a cleaning day with the music blaring, relaxing later with a book in one hand and a chocolate bar in the other.
She wasn't just our mom; she was also mom to the neighbourhood kids.
With a passion for travelling, she went across Canada and then to Europe. Her greatest adventure in life was being a mom and a grandma.
Max of 100/Attendees will require masks, poof of double vaccination and photo ID. The service will be recorded and uploaded to the Korban chapel website afterwords.
You did a great job, Mom.
We love you and miss you forever.
