Emilian Sikorsky

Our Tato, Emilian Sikorsky, passed away on January 20, 2025. He joins Joan, his wife of 63 years, just three weeks after her passing. We, his children, Andrew, Christina (Thomas Steur), Donna (Jason Brennan), and Christopher (Gabriel Gomez) were with him in his final hours, as were his grandchildren Anton, Alyna, Peter, Thomas, James, and Julian. He is survived by his sister Marijka in his hometown Kamianka-Buzka, Ukraine, and by other family in Europe.

Emilian loved his family, song and singing, his homeland Ukraine, and all that grows in orchards, gardens and forests. He travelled as a young man to Canada and began work in the forests of Northern Ontario. Eventually, his journey led him to Winnipeg, where he worked at CN and VIA Rail, through which we learned to love riding the rails. 

Donations in Emilian’s memory may be made to the Lubov Foundation, which supports Holy Family Home, Tato’s last residence. We are so grateful to all of the Home staff for their outstanding care and friendship.

Tato requested a private funeral and interment at a later date.
