Eugenia Bulka Obituary

Eugenia Bulka of Winnipeg, MB passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 4, 2025 at the age of 96.

It is with great sadness that the family announces her peaceful passing at Holy Family Home.

Eugenia was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael in March 1992, her son Lubomir in February 2006 and sister Olga February 1992.  Eugenia is survived by her loving family, son Zenon (Brenda), grandsons Paul (Keisha), Zevin (Coreen) and great grandsons Beau and Maverick.

Also mourning her passing are cousin Eugenia and multiple family members in Ukraine.

Mother,  grandmother, great grand mother (Baba) was born on December 19, 1928 to parents Harry and Mary Malko in Cheremoshnya, Western Ukraine.  As a young girl, her parents came to Canada to start a better life with the intent to have their daughters join them in Canada. However, World War II started, and Eugenia and her sister Olga remained in Ukraine and were raised by their Aunt Katherine.

Eugenia met her husband Michael, they married and had two sons, Lubomir and Zenon. Eugenia's dream was to reunite with her parents in Canada. In 1968 Eugenia, Michael and their sons, left Western Ukraine and came to Winnipeg to begin their new life.

Eugenia was very outgoing person who loved to sing. Michael and Eugenia belonged to multiple choirs and had a deep rooted love of god and Ukrainian culture which they instilled on to their children. Her faith in god was unwavering and religion played big part in her upbringing and her entire life.

Eugenia loved her family, she loved to cook and make traditional Ukrainian meals for her husband, sons and grandsons. She loved to tend to her garden, growing vegetables and flowers.

Eugenia’s bond with her grandsons Paul and Zevin was very amazing, as they held a special place in her heart. With the addition of her great grandsons, Beau and Maverick, Baba was so happy and grateful, as they brought so much joy and laughter in her final days.

May our beloved Mother, Baba rest in internal peace. Forever in our memory.
