Fletcher Morgan Seaman Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Fletcher Morgan Seaman on May 24, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 64, following a brief cancer illness.

Fletcher was born in Winnipeg on August 20, 1961, the younger of twin boys born to Arlene (nee Fletcher) and Morgan Seaman. He spent his entire life in the city he loved and called home.

He was predeceased by his father, Morgan Seaman (2008), his mother, Arlene Seaman (2013), and his nephew, Patrick (2018). Fletcher is survived by his twin brother and lifelong companion, Bob Seaman of Winnipeg; his sisters, Shannon Dutchyn (Colin Rankin) of British Columbia and Lindsay Allen (Gerald Allen); along with several nieces and nephews.

Fletcher attended Selkirk Regional Secondary School and spent his working life doing a variety of jobs. He worked with Wonder Shows on the carnival circuit, drove for Duffy's Taxi, and in recent years helped his friend Todd Gunnarson with maintenance work at apartment buildings. He was never particularly interested in titles or career ambitions. Fletcher preferred a simpler approach to life, taking things as they came and enjoying the day in front of him.

A devoted sports fan, he followed hockey passionately and was thrilled when the Winnipeg Jets returned to the city. Fletcher also enjoyed rooting for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Toronto Blue Jays. He loved hard rock music and could often be found listening to AC/DC, Judas Priest, Rush, or Iron Maiden. In later years, Fletcher had fun riding his electric scooter or spending countless hours playing Boom Beach, where he somehow managed to maintain an astonishing number of accounts.

Fletcher was also a devoted animal lover, especially when it came to cats. Over the years he shared his life with several feline companions, including his beloved Edgar, who passed away in 2018. More recently, he had become especially fond of Sparky and the other cats that helped make home feel complete.

Easygoing and carefree by nature, Fletcher had a knack for stirring up “lively” conversations and debates. Like many people, Fletcher's path through life was not always a straight one, but he remained a kind-hearted and loyal man who cared deeply about the people and animals in his life. He was never one to put on airs or pretend to be someone he wasn't.

Perhaps no relationship better defined Fletcher's life than the one he shared with his twin brother Bob. The two were, as family members often joked, "glued at the hip." They lived together, relied on one another, and shared a bond that only twins can truly understand.

One family memory captures Fletcher perfectly. When his sister Shannon got married in Langley, British Columbia, Fletcher and Bob drove all the way from Winnipeg in less than 23 hours to attend the wedding. When they arrived, they were standing at the door grinning, clutching giant Slurpees and looking as though neither had slept nor bathed for days. They had come a very long way for someone they loved, and that was Fletcher: fiercely loyal to family, happiest in the company of his brother, and never one to worry too much about appearances.

Fletcher lived life on his own terms. He leaves behind memories of exciting hockey games, loud music, cats curled up nearby, spirited conversations, and the unmistakable presence of a man who remained true to himself and loyal to family and friends throughout his life.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service.
