Gayle Louise Swynar (nee Antonowich) left this world suddenly on March 14, 2021 at age 66. Gayle was a proud and caring mother, Baba, sister, and friend who will be remembered dearly. She was predeceased by her parents: Matt and Anne Antonowich (nee Krashy). She is survived by her children: Tara (Derek) Reimer, Timothy (Joanna) Swynar, Stephanie (Brendan) Feilberg, and Kelly (Alley) Swynar, her nine grandchildren: Andrew, Tyler, Eric, Ellie, Lyla, Adelynn, Finnley, Paisley and Colt, and sisters: Barb Antonowich, Judy Antonowich, and Connie (Art) Walker. Mom shared a special bond with countless others she welcomed into her home and heart over the years.
Gayle was born to Matt and Anne Antonowich on December 2, 1954 in Vita, MB. She was the eldest of four sisters. Growing up on the homestead, she came by her passion for farming honestly. She married David in 1975 and together, they raised their children on the Swynar family farm in Pansy. Gayle loved spending her time tending to her children, animals, and crops. She worked hard and always made sure the work got done. From milking cows morning and night, ensuring mouths were always well fed, providing an abundant garden to share, chauffeuring her children to countless horseshows and sporting events, she never missed a thing and always had a smile on her face.
Gayle loved spending time with her grandchildren and they never missed an opportunity to be with her. She was always up for an adventure and spent her retirement years dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and gardening. She was the best farming playmate, storyteller, and crafting partner. Although her time with family was cut short, she made the most of every minute. Time not spent with her family was spent nurturing her gardens. She was always looking for the perfect addition to her yard, from wildflowers to river stones. In the past couple years, she completed building Baba’s Garden where her family and friends can gather to visit, enjoy a wiener roast, and have a good laugh.
We thank the staff at the Grace Hospital ICU for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be arranged by Korban Funeral Chapel.
