HELEN GELMYCH
(NEE HAWRYLUK)
April 21, 1933 - April 11, 2023
Helen passed away gently, enjoying the afternoon sun just 10 days before her 90th birthday.
Her memory lives on in the hearts of daughter Cathy (Gregory), son Martin (Julie), grandsons Alan (Brooke), Jeffrey (Shawna), and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Walter, son Michael and granddaughter Andrea.
Helen was a lifelong member of St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral and enjoyed membership in countless Sobor organizations throughout her life. She was defined by her love for family and maintaining family traditions. She was proud of the many Master Angler award-winning fish she caught, and her huge bell collection and she loved to bake. She was strong and hard-working, funny, and everybody’s Baba. We all remember her in her happy place…sitting in the screened porch at the lake, an icy bottle of beer in hand on a warm summer evening.

A private family service will be held at Korban Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association.
