Irene was born on February 3, 1929, in St. Andrews, Manitoba. She married Steve in 1950, and they worked together to build the family businesses while raising their family. She was an avid cook and loved gardening and sewing. She was a member of the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Parish, a member of the Women’s League, and a former league president. Always generous with her time she volunteered at church fundraising, family, and community activities. Irene faced health challenges with her usual fortitude including rheumatoid arthritis, fractures for osteoporosis, breast cancer, and finally Alzheimer’s disease.
