ISYDORA LUCKI
Nee Klimchak
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dear wife Isydora Lucki. Left to cherish in her memory husband Joseph. Isydora was predeceased by our only child Patricia Lucki at the age of 24 years in 1989.
Isydora was also predeceased by her parents, mother Stephanie (nee Musyj) and father John Klimchak and sister Glikeria, sister Jerry (Jeroslawa) and brother Michael.
She is survived by her brother Atanazie as well as numerous nieces and nephews from the Klimchak and Lucki familes.
Isydora was born in Ituna Saskatchewan on October 1st, 1935 and moved with her family to Transcona in 1942. She attended Central High school and lived at 138 Horton Ave East prior to her marriage. Isydora was a member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Women's League and also sang in the choir.
Isydora and Joseph were married on June 6, 1959 at the old St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church. The first Ukrainian Catholic Church in the town of Transcona. It was of wood construction. It was an extremely hot and humid day with no air conditioning. During the service the sweat was pouring on their faces as if they were in tears. Isydora passed, one day short of their 64th wedding anniversary on June 5th.
Isydora worked as an office clerk with Crown Trust, J. A Keddy Automotive and later with Fort Ignition. After the birth of her daughter she worked in the office of Woolco.
After the death of her daughter Joe and Isydora retired and spent their winters in Arizona at Val Vista Village RV Resort in Mesa where she made many friends and memories. She enjoyed the warmer weather but dreaded coming back to the cold of April.
Isydora loved gardening and tending to her many plants, flowers and vegetable garden. She had a green thumb and competed for many years in the annual Winnipeg in Bloom competition, winning first place for best large property in 2001 for Gardening Excellence.
Isydora was a gracious lady and always had time for the special people in her life. Even through the hardships of the last 6 months she never complained and never forgot to thank those helping or visiting her. You could always manage to get a little giggle out of her with the right look or or joke. She always expressed her appreciation to the staff of the various health facilities that she was in that they all spoke fondly of her.
I would like to thank lsydora's good friends Wendy Riffel and Annette Pelland for all their care and visits throughout her illness and time in the hospital. Wendy especially for being there and holding Isydora's hand when she took her last breath.
Thanks to the Riffel family, Rob Wendy, Evan & Michael who were like a family. Wendy said, that Isydora was like a mother to her, and the boys Evan and Michael said she was like a grandmother.
Thanks to Monica Champagne and her husband Darrel for their visits and comfort to Isydora as well as the visits and compassion of Patricia's friend Lynn Wilkinson.
Thanks to the staff of Grace Hospital, Deer Lodge Center, Action Marguerite Nursing Home and St. Boniface Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Isydora
