JEAN VICTORIA BURNS (HERMAN)
On September 16th, 2022.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce our Mother, Baba and sister, Jean Victoria Burns (Herman) has passed away at age 83.
Jean was born in Notikewin Alberta to Eva (Maksymetz) and George Herman and came to Winnipeg with her family early in her childhood. She was beautiful and very smart, ranking #1 in her classes in school along with being a fast hurdler, good baseball player and excellent Ukrainian dancer.
Mom cared deeply for her family and said many times “I live for my kids”. She decided to become a nurse, as she always enjoyed helping people, and wanted a stable career to take care of her children. She graduated at the top of her nursing class and nursed for many years at St. Boniface Hospital. She was a very special woman, who “ALWAYS” put everyone else first before herself. No matter how tired she was, she always supported and brought her kids to their many sports and activities. She was a wonderful Mom in every way and loved being a Baba to her 4 grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her children Ken (Jacquie) and Sharon, grandchildren Kent, Kleighton, Mitchell and Alexis, her sister Anne, brothers Gordon and Lawrence along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Eva, father George, brothers Victor, Peter and Paul, sister Helen (Friesen) and brother-in-law Bill Ratuski.
Thank you to Manitoba Cancer Care and St. Boniface Palliative Care staff for all of their care and support.
You can only have one Mom, patient, kind and true
No other friend in all the world will be the same to you.
As we look upon her picture, sweet memories we recall
Of a face so full of sunshine and a smile for one and all.
To Heaven take this message to our dear Mom up above
Tell her how much we miss her and give her all our love
