Jeannine Carriere Obituary

On Monday December 20, 2021, Jeannine Helene Carriere ( Levasseur), loving mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 76 years.  Jeannine is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Tim), grandchildren Erin, Evan, Sam, sister Yvette (Louis), and many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her husband Louis, and brothers, Laurent, Henri, and Marcel.  Jeannine was born to parents Lucienne (Faucher) and Herve Levasseur in St. Boniface on April 23, 1945. She graduated from St Joseph’s Academy, and shortly thereafter, embarked on a career working for the federal government. One of her adventures led her to work in Montreal for Expo 67. Later, together with husband Louis, they established Carlev Property Management and Sea Breeze Tanning Salon where they forged many relationships and made many friends.  Jeannine then settled into a 20-year long career with the Senior and Healthy Ageing department with the provincial government, retiring in 2009.

In 1983, the family embarked on an adventurous move to Calgary, Alberta.  It was a fun and exciting time for all.  They embraced their new surroundings and explored the mountains of Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise, often hiking the splendid trails.

In her retirement years, Jeannine, and husband Louis explored Canada.  They adventured to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Quebec, and Vancouver Island. Some of their highlights included driving the Cabot trail, seeing the Hopewell Rocks, Anne of Green Gables, the Quebec Citadel, and Butchart Gardens.

Jeannine’s grandchildren were her greatest joy and she loved spending time with them.  Her love for Erin, Evan and Sam ran very deep and she would give them the world if she could. After school pick-ups were always excitedly met with brown paper bags labelled with their names and their favourite snacks.

Jeannine was a devoted wife.  Throughout their 48 years of marriage, she was always by Louis’ side-both in sickness and in health.  Their devotion to each other was remarkable.

Special thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Care Centre 3E for their compassionate care and support.  In accordance with Jeannine’s wishes, there will be a private funeral at St. Emile Church followed by an interment at St. Boniface Cemetery.  In Jeannine’s spirit, may you celebrate life with patience and kindness.
