John Kalinowski Obituary

Peacefully on Sunday December 11, 2022 John Walter Kalinowski passed away at the age of 91.

John was predeceased by his parents Pearl and John, first wife Beth, sons Kim (Bernie), Bryan (Debbie), brother in law Herb (Pat), and nephew Danny. He will be forever remembered by his devoted wife Bev, daughters Kara (Jim)and Kirstie (Keith) brother Michael (Madeline), sister Pat, sons Kerry and Kal. A special thanks to our daughters of the heart Debbie Punton and Sherry Kiesman for their love and devotion. Many grand children, great grand children, nieces and nephews.

John grew up in Marquette Manitoba. At nineteen he joined the Canadian Air Force and became a Sargent with the Air Force Security Police. Following the Air Force he had a long career as life Insurance broker and once retired dabbled in many unique jobs to keep himself busy and enjoy meeting people.

He was a gifted athlete and had a special love for baseball. He enjoyed talking about the experience of being on the Molson Canadians team that won the 1967 Canadian National Senior Men’s Fastball Championship. The following year the team won the Silver Medal in the 1968 World Fastball Championship in Oklahoma City. He was proud to be a member of this team that was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.

John was also a member of The Black Knights team in the Manitoba Senior’s Fastball League. The team was inducted in the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame in 2010. John’s individual contributions were acknowledged in the Athlete category when he was inducted into the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame in 2020.
We will miss his unique fashion sense and quirky sense of humour. We know that John is happily reunited with his beloved family pets who would often visit him in his dreams.
A special thank you to Mone Lisa from Bayshore, for her kindness and assistance near the end.

At John’s request no services are being held. If family and friends so desire they can make a donation to the CNIB.
