Lucia Carvalho Obituary

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Lucia Carvalho, on September 18th, 2024 after a long battle with Cancer.

Lucia was born in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in March of 1962. She is predeceased by her parents Manuel and Alice Rosa and many aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Lucia was a devout Catholic who lived for Family, Food, and Faith. She loved the Rocky Mountains and travelled to Alberta as often as she could. Her greatest joy was her family and being surrounded by those she loved. No matter who came through the door they were always welcomed with open arms and love.

She worked as a cook for St. Benedict's Monastery for over 20 years where it brought her joy and to the people she served.

Lucia will forever be missed by her husband of 44 years, Francisco; her children Marcia (Gareth), Marco (Stephanie) and Michael (Asta); her grandchildren Ellianna, Jasmin, Logan, Shyann, and Lennox; her siblings Elizabete (Isidro) and John; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

We would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg and the Foothills Medical Center in Calgary, Alberta for the wonderful care they gave to Lucia. We would also like to thank the amazing staff at Sunwest Aero Medical for the safe and flawless transport of Lucia from Calgary back to Winnipeg. Our heartfelt thank you to Brother Greg for the many visits with Lucia and presiding her prayers and funeral service. Our sincerest gratitude to all who have donated thus far to the Go Fund Me to bring Lucia home.
