Magdalena Fedorkiw Obituary

Magdalena (Gural) Fedorkiw

Peacefully, with her family at her bedside, on August 4, 2021, Magdalena, aged 98, beloved mama, baba and prababa softly declared: “I’m ready my Lord.”

Born in selo Rudky, Lvivska oblast, Western Ukraine to Wasyl Gural and Warwara (Soroka), Magdalena departed home to serve as slave laborer in Germany during WWII. Being displaced after the war she settled in Bradford, England where Mama met and married her husband Andrey.

Their two children Iwan and Luba were born there. In 1957 the family immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada where they became members of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral and participated  in  Ukrainian community life.

Magdalena loved her family, cooking, gardening, Ukrainian culture/traditions and was humbly dedicated to God and spirituality.

She was predeceased by her husband Andrey (1997), her parents and sisters Kateryna and Maria in Ukraine. She leaves to cherish her memory son Iwan (Charlotte), daughter Luba (Ivan); grandchildren Matthew, Stephanie, Andrij; great-grandchildren Deacon and Maddox along extended family in Ukraine.

The family expresses sincere gratitude for the loving care and compassion of all Staff at Holy Family Nursing Home (2A Sacred Heart Wing), both Drs. Taras and Andrea Babick , Spiritual Pastor Roman and Rev. Ihor Shved for Last Rites.

In lieu of flowers, please forward in memory donations to Holy Family Nursing Home Foundation, 167 Aberdeen Ave. Wpg. Mb.

Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Rev. I. Shved officiating at a private family service with interment to follow. Metropolitan-Archbishop (Emeritus) Stefan Soroka will participate as private family guest with prayers for Magdalena’s repose in the Lord.

“Dyakuyu Mama/Baba for all You have shared with us. May the Angels guide you Home.”
