Marek was born in Krakow Poland where he met his beloved wife Bogumila. In 2020 they celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Marek was an adventurer, entrepreneur, fisherman, family man, fighter, helper, best friend and jokester. His life adventure began in Poland and took him to places such as Russia, Czechoslovakia, Hungry, Romania, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Canada, Cuba & USA.
During his life he had a variety of businesses and jobs. He worked in Russia as a truck driver for a pipeline company. He was a merchant selling goods in Europe. He owned a taxi cab, fresh fruit and vegetables store and moving company. He was also dabbling in land real estate.
Marek loved fishing. He came to Canada with at least a dozen fishing rods ready for action. He enjoyed Manitoba fishing year-round. His favorite fishing spots included Whiteshell, Lac Du Bonnet, Selkirk, Lockport, Libau, Bisset and many others. He participated in many ice fishing derbies with his friends and family.
As a family man and provider, Marek was a hard-working man. He arrived in Winnipeg in 1985 and not knowing the English language he started his first job in Winnipeg only 3 weeks after arrival. He worked a variety of labourer / warehouse type jobs to support his family. Eventually he retired from Manitoba Freshwater Fish.
Marek always offered his help to friends, family and strangers. He brought countless smiles and lifted the spirits of those around him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.
Private service will be held at Holy Ghost Parish.
