On December 23, 2024 with her family by her side and after a lengthy struggle with health, it is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of an incredible woman, wife, mother, sister and Baba.
Mary will be always in our hearts and sadly missed by sons Darin (Pamela), Ronald (Beata) and daughter Sandra (Mike) and her four grandchildren Alayna, Christopher, Mark and Collin. She leaves to mourn three sisters Sara, Susan, Helen and brothers Jake and Ben . She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford and parents Cornelius and Anna Thiessen, sisters Cathy, Anna and brothers John, Cornie and grandson Alex.
Mary Thiessen was born October 22, 1943 in Chihuahua Mexico. Mary and her family came to Ontario Canada in 1954 by truck. Mary left her family at the age of 15 to work in the tobacco fields in Ontario. She then moved to Manitoba where she met the love of her life Clifford Boyko . Mary and Clifford were married in June 1964. They went to Banff Canada for their honeymoon and soon after that, started a family.
Mary had worked in a sewing factory when her children were young and as they started to go to school, she started work at Machray elementary school as a food coordinator. Mary was instrumental in providing nutrition and life skills to the students at Machray school during her years of employment. Mary retired in 2008. After retirement on many occasions, her former students would come up and tell her how the skills she taught them had helped them in their adult lives. Over the years, Mary has touched the hearts of everyone she’s met.
Mary enjoyed to travel throughout her life, Mary and her family had travelled across Canada and throughout North America. She and her family have driven to Mexico on numerous occasions and visited family along the way.
Mary also enjoyed cooking and has created a lot of really tasty dishes that her friends and family enjoyed over the years.
After her retirement Mary could be found with her husband, dancing and enjoying life. Mary and Clifford would frequent the local mall sharing coffee and stories with friends.
