Mary Horbal

May 16, 1922 – February 5, 2022

It is with profound sadness that the family of Mary Horbal announce her passing at Holy Family nursing home on February 5. Mary passed peacefully in her sleep Saturday due to complications from COVID.

Mary was predeceased by her 2 sons Taras (Terry) and Gerald (Gerry) and daughter-in-law Carolyn.

Survived by her 2 grandsons Geoffrey and Matthew Horbal.

Mary worked for many years at Eaton’s and we have many fond memories of her taking us there to eat and shop on many special occasions. Mary took great pride in her house and yard often working outside into the evening. Mary was a lifelong member of the Holy Eucharist Church and loved singing in the choir and making perogies. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and when we were children, we referred to her as “Grandma who laughs”. She always took care of her grandchildren, and she will be deeply missed.

May she rest in peace and finally be reunited with her sons.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 10:00 am at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 505 Watt St. followed by interment at Elmwood Cemetery.
