It is with profound sadness that the family of Phyllis Irene Ash announce her passing on December 28, 2025 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 98.
Mom was born on August 13, 1927 in Dauphin, Manitoba. She was one of 11 children born into the family of Alex & Margaret Lintick. She was their last surviving child. Mom grew up in the Sifton and Dauphin areas. On April 20, 1946 she married our dad Mervin. They were married 62 years.
Mom will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Debbie, Reava (Rollie), Troy (Gisele), her beloved grandchildren Brett (Jessica), Alyssa (Jai), Ashley (Lindsay) and great grandchildren Hazel, Livia, Findlay, Sterling, Chaya, and Isabel. She is survived by step grandchildren Sheri, Dereck, Ryan, Patrick, Jeremy, and their families. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by our dad Mervin on August 23, 2008, and, her parents, brothers and sisters.
Mom held a few careers throughout her life. She started at the age of 15 at Bryces Bakery and went on to work at other grocery and department stores and finally Safeway where she retired after 25 years of service in the meat department and bake shop. Mom was a people person thru and thru. During her time with Safeway she won 2 different Courtesy Awards that were awarded through out Manitoba! Only a few people were selected.
In retirement mom finally had the time to do different crafts. She took up a number of them like paper toll, jewellery making, making clown dolls, decorated cement stone pads for our yards, and knitted afghans. She even gave Tai Chi a go! She took up horseback riding at the age of 65. She and dad would go on trail rides and later wagon rides. She went on a snowmobile and went ice fishing with Troy & Gisele at the age of 90. Had never done either before.
She loved going to Green Acres (their acreage) for weiner roasts, working with the animals and just being out there. She loved flowers beyond belief and the garden eventually became a massive flower bed. When she moved to Winnipeg, her balconies were adorned with flowers and well admired by all.
A few years after dad’s passing mom moved to Winnipeg. She loved being here closer to family and functions, taking part in the activities in her 55+ Apartment, & her Assisted Living Apartment. And she loved to shop!
An internment for mom was held Friday, January 2, 2026 in Dauphin, with a Celebration of Life held in Winnipeg on Monday, January 5, 2026.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in mom’s name to Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre in Ile des Chenes.
