Rachel Thome

Obituary

Rachel Roslyn Violet Thome, loved forever by parents Simon and Hilary Thome (nee Omichinski), was born and died on Valentine’s Day, 2022.

She is remembered by her mom and dad and dog Betty; grandparents Gisele Berard and Rene Sabourin, Peter Thome, Karen Bukoski, and Wyatt Omichinski; great granny Evelyn Bukoski; uncles Marty and Derik Thome, uncle Tyler and auntie Jessica Omichinski and cousin Zoe. So many other family and friends eagerly awaited her presence in this world.

Through multiple medical appointments and hospital visits, Rachel fought hard alongside her parents. Delivered at 32 weeks, it was anticipated she would need support in her first weeks of life. However, it was devastating and shocking to all involved in Rachel’s care that she would pass away so shortly after birth.

Simon and Hilary will never forget the support they have received. Even when horrible things happen, there is kindness to be found in the world. Thank you. They would also like to recognize the care provided by the team at Tache Obstetrics; St. Boniface Hospital, in particular the Spiritual Care team and the Fetal Assessment Clinic; and WRHA Antenatal Home Care.

Rachel, though you did not get to be with us long on earth you have changed your parents’ lives forever. You are beautiful. We love you so much, miss you and promise to honour you. We are so proud to be your mom and dad.

A celebration of life will occur on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 pm at Korban Funeral Chapel. All are welcome.
