Robert Yewish Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Robert James Yewish, on April 18, 2022, at the age of 57.  He will be greatly missed by his brother Ron (Candace), his sister Patti (Willie), his nieces and nephew, Sarah (Jason), Joel (Kendra), Tammy (Shaun), and Lizzie, his great-nieces, and great-nephews, all his cousins, especially Kim Gulle-Daye and Jamie Gulle, his lifelong partner Donna Plante and his many other friends he acquired over the years. He was predeceased by his parents Colleen Yewish (nee Courchene) and Lawrence Hewitt.

Robbie was a great friend to many who met him. He had a special gift of helping people that were less fortunate and was a real supporter of the little man. He had a special art of helping people with legal matters, and many would go to him and ask for his help.  He was a self-made legal scholar.

In his early 20s, Robbie lived in Frobisher Bay, now named Iqaluit, where he owned a taxi business for 3 years and made many friends there. He could speak Inuktitut well.  He had been working for many years for the City of Winnipeg at the Public Works Dept.

Robbie, you will always be truly missed!

Cremation has already taken place. The family will be holding a small gathering for family and friends, to celebrate Robbie, on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Darlington Hall, at the West Kildonan Legion, 1748 Main St, Winnipeg, MB.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
