Robert (Bob) Ducharme
Beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather
February 28, 1939 – July 10, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Ducharme on July 10, 2025, at the age of 86.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife Simone, his sons Dean and Jason (Charlene), and his treasured grandsons Bret and Tyson. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucille and Francois Ducharme, and his brothers Wilfred and Willard.
Born and raised in St. Laurent, Manitoba, Bob later moved to Winnipeg, where he first worked with Nelson River Construction before beginning a long career with the City of Winnipeg. In retirement, he stayed active working at Winnipeg Goldeyes stadium, enjoying the camaraderie and energy of the ballpark.
Bob was a man of great strength, both in body and spirit. He often joked with his siblings that he was “as strong as Victor DeLamarre,” the legendary Canadian strongman. And in many ways, he truly was. Whether it was lifting spirits with his humour, helping others with his hands, or supporting his family with unwavering love, Bob’s strength was always evident.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending weekends in St. Laurent with family, relaxing at the Boucher family cabin at Gull Lake, and proudly watching his boys play hockey, lacrosse, and baseball. Later in life, he took great pride in gardening at the Lacasse family farm in Otterburne. Bob loved playing cards, though he was known to cheat with a grin, and sharing laughter with everyone around him. A true jokester with a heart of gold, he was always ready with a smile, a helping hand, and a story to tell. Family was his greatest pride and priority.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and staff at Actionmarguerite St. Vital (2nd floor) for their compassionate care over the past two years, and more recently, the staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba in Bob’s memory. Honouring his wishes, no formal service will be held. His spirit lives on in every smile, every story, and every shared memory. And in true Bob fashion, we invite you to raise a glass of Seagram’s 83, share a story, and enjoy a laugh in his honour.
