It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Roxanne Klymkiw Taylor on June 12, 2026, at the age of 65.

She is survived by her loving daughter Stephanie, brothers Corey (Michelle), Mark (Peggy), many cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends. Roxanne was predeceased by her husband Ron Taylor and parents Bohdan and Josephine Klymkiw.

Roxanne was a Klymkiw – a name synonymous with several descriptors: family, community, Ukrainian and proud. In her early years, Roxanne spent much of her time at the U.N.F. Hall on Main Street alongside her parents, learning the importance of involvement in the community and the importance of preserving Ukrainian traditions and language. Ukrainian was spoken at home, and Roxanne was immersed in living and learning about her heritage and was fluent, speaking, reading and writing Ukrainian.

The Klymkiw home resonated with music. Roxanne took acting, piano and voice lessons and played mandolin. She began Ukrainian dancing at an early age, and she became a proud member of the Orlan Ukrainian Folk Ensemble. There were many practises, performances and trips that created memories of friends, laughter and hilarious moments that are highlights for the group of friends who have maintained the special bond that developed through the years.

Roxanne followed in her parents’ footsteps by being involved in the Ukrainian community and other organizations. She became a committed volunteer who gave her time, energy and talents to various committees and events. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Oseredok (Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre). She genuinely loved being a part of these activities.

Roxanne was a consummate broadcaster, graduating from broadcasting school and starting her career at CKRC. She made her mark on the Winnipeg music scene while working for CJOB, 92 Citi FM and Power 97 until 2000, when she transitioned to voice over work and commercials. Her captivating presence and natural warmth made her the go-to emcee for everything from Folklorama, concerts,  fashion shows, along with testimonial and fundraising dinners.

Roxanne met the love of her life Ron, at a young age while they were working at competing radio stations. In 1985 they married and celebrated 39 years together before his passing in January 2025. They welcomed their daughter Stephanie in November of 1990, and it made their lives complete. Rox and Ron were lucky enough to travel to many different destinations, meet hundreds of wonderful people, and collect invaluable memories and friends throughout life’s journey.

Roxanne dedicated a significant part of her life caring for her family. She provided steadfast support to Steph through her medical struggles, cared for her mother Josie following a stroke, her father Boxy in his later years and ultimately Ron as he battled cancer.

Food, family, and friends were the heart of Roxanne and Ron’s gatherings. They had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, always serving an abundant selection of traditional Ukrainian and Polish dishes alongside the inevitable BBQ. Their closest friends truly became family, joining together to celebrate life, honour holidays, and create lasting memories. Roxanne will be dearly missed by the wide network of people she connected with throughout her lifetime.

Recently, Roxanne was thrilled to connect with her biological brother Corey, and they were lucky enough to spend time over the past 5 years getting to know each other and their families.

We would like to thank the wonderful caregivers from VIP Home Care who compassionately helped Roxanne navigate the challenges of each day as ALS took away her independence. A special mention to Ola, Aqsa, Lynette, Harsh and Jasmine, who were the core of her amazing care team and to Roxanne’s friends who supported her during her most difficult days.
