Theresa LeMaitre Obituary

Theresa Margaret LeMaitre

May 21, 1961 - April 6, 2020

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Theresa Margaret LeMaître, a beautiful soul; a gifted, creative seamstress, needleworker, knitter, quilter, and jewellery maker.  She was intelligent, generous, and  a witty spirit who was always ready to help her friends. She passed unexpectedly and far too soon. Left to mourn are her three children: Alexandra (Bastian), Eli, and Sam; her parents Rudy and Margaret; her sister Mary; niece Bénédicte, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, godfamilies, and friends living in Canada and around the world including in Trinidad, the United States, Great Britain, Australia, and Norway. She is predeceased by her brother Jean Pierre. Prayers were held online from Korban Funeral Chapel. A celebration of her life will be held when it is safe to gather publicly.

Theresa was born in Saskatoon, SK, but spent her early years in Goodsoil, SK - which was to become her favorite place in the world - and grew up in Winnipeg. At a very young age she sewed her first pattern and began designing clothes. She grew into a very accomplished seamstress and needleworker who sewed clothes and magnificent baptismal gowns for her children and niece as well as many hand-made gifts for her friends and family. In high school Theresa joined the JTC Sea Cadet Corps in Winnipeg and then the reserves. She got her first job as an undercover shopper at The Bay then worked as a waitress in several restaurants, such as Simply Delicious, Basil's, Oscar's, and the NorVilla. Her education included general Arts at the University of Manitoba, Anthropology at the University of Winnipeg, and carpentry and cabinet making at Red River College. Theresa married and had three beautiful, talented children whom she loved with all her heart: Ali, Eli, and Sam with whom she stayed at home to raise. She returned to the workforce as a driver and, most recently, was working as a school bus driver.

She will be missed for her sharp wit, big heart, playful laugh, sincere friendship, her generosity, creativity, and the goodness of her soul.
