Thomas "Tom" Timlick Obituary

On this Holy Day Sunday, Jan 4th, 2026 at 3:44 a.m., with a full moon in the sky and his daughter by his side, Tom our Dad left this earth to reunite with his beloved wife Shirley, our Mom, and his furry best man Laddie in Heaven

Tom passed 2 days before his 91st Birthday. Recently, Tom looked back on his life feeling pride and at peace with his life’s accomplishments. A poor boy from Hull England, in 1944 during World War 2, Tom along with his brother Vicky and their Mother Ethel left for Canada by ship to join Jason and his children. Jason officially adopted Tom and Vicky. They were now a family with 9 children. Tom always spoke very highly of his father Jason.

As a boy Tom took on various job like pin setting at the bowling alley, drug store delivery boy, walking horses at the race track and climbing hydro poles up north. At 17 years old with permission for his Dad, Tom joined the Canadian Navy where he served 4 years, distilling water in the bottom of the ship. Tom said being in the Navy made a man out of him. He was pleased and proud he got to see a lot of the World with the Navy.

Tom worked for the CNR as a porter in a dining car.  He was also proud of being a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 2 provinces. He also worked at various funeral homes, and tried his hand starting his own business called A Call Removal in a highly competitive field. Tom retired with the city commissionaires. Tom was a hard worker and wasn’t afraid to learn anything new, even cab driving. In retirement Tom and Shirley played seniors baseball in their 80’s, enjoyed dancing and darts. Tom loved making all kinds of crafts and going to craft sales, reading, adult day programs with Shirley. Plus a lot of enjoyment from his iPad, which he admitted he was addicted to.

In his life he became a Mason and a Shriner, and was a member of the St. James Legion for over 50 years. Way to go Tom!

Tom was predeceased by his wife Shirley, son Rod and his wife Sharon , Mother, Father, Brothers, Sisters, nieces and nephews.

Left to grieve with heavy hearts is daughters Patti, Sandy (Kris), sons Mark and Jim, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
