Om Mani Padme Hum
Our beloved and compassionate Pala, Thupten Tsering Leba, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Born in Tibet, Pala (dad) spent his adolescence as a monk and continued his monkhood practice into his adult life, before escaping Tibet during the 1959 Tibetan uprising. Pala bravely trekked through the Himalayas towards survival, alongside his fellow countrymen. Through his perseverance, he endured Nepalese camps and eventually gained refuge in India, before meeting Amala (mom) and starting his family.
Pala and Amala's search for freedom and a life of opportunity took them to Canada. He upheld his Buddhist teachings and practices his entire life and continued to be an activist for freedom and human rights in Canada. He was a generous soul and celebrated employee for his kind nature, good
heart and hard-working character.
Pala was also a proud upholder of his Tibetan traditions. He is remembered fondly by his family, community and colleagues. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, his six children and their spouses, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thank you to our friends, family and community for your kindness and love. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to consider donating to either organization below, to preserve our Tibetan culture and Pala's memory.
