Walter Sahan Obituary

Walter (Lodge) Josaphat Sahan, K.S.C. 1927 – 2022

Peacefully called by the Lord on May 8th, 2022. Lodge is survived by his loving wife, Jean, of 68 years; daughter Christine (Philip), son Mark (Laura); sister Terri; granddaughters Mel (Trish), Katryna, Kaelyn and Talia; great-grandchildren Emma, Hayley (Sarah) and Brandt; nephew Christopher; niece Susan; grand-nephews Jamie and Jason. He was predeceased by his parents William and Ahafia; brother Nicholas; sisters Mary and Ollie; brothers-in-law Doug and Frank; niece Sandra; nephew Dennis.

Lodge was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and served as a Sacristan for many years. He was a member of the Apostleship of Prayer, an SSMI Associate and former Knight of Columbus.

Lodge’s involvement with the Immaculate Heart of Mary School (formerly St. Nicholas School), a project to which he devoted all of the time he had left after his job and family responsibilities, earned him a papal medal, “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice”. He was also honoured with the Order of the Knight of St. Gregory.

Lodge was selfless. He was devoted to his family and friends. He was a special man who truly lived his faith every day. Whatever task he accepted, he did so with his heart and soul, never wanting acknowledgement as he believed that it was his responsibility to serve.

We were very blessed to have him with us for all these years and will miss him.

Thank you, Lodge. You will live in our hearts forever.

A special thank you to the staff from Grace Hospital, Holy Family Home and Misercordia, Cornish 2 for their incredible care.
