Wasyl Krucko Obituary

 

It is with broken hearts that the family announces the unexpected passing of Wasyl (Bill) Krucko on October 4, 2024 in Toronto.

Wasyl was born on April 10, in Ternopil, Ukraine. At a young age he immigrated to Canada with his family to reunite with his grandparents. 

After completing his studies at Daniel McIntyre collegiate, he continued his education at the University of Manitoba, where he graduated with degrees in Computer Science and Slavic Literature and Languages. Becoming fluent in several languages.

While studying in Winnipeg, he worked at 7/11, Dominion Bridge and the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and Science, where he did research, wrote an edited for a historical dictionary. 

After graduating from the University of Manitoba, he moved to Toronto and became a researcher and writer for the Encyclopaedia of Ukraine. Throughout his life in Toronto, he worked several jobs in management, administration, computer and technology. He was very generous with his time and skills and volunteered for many organizations. Being selfless and giving, he was always eager to help anyone, near or far. Many times before they even knew they needed help.

He enjoyed sports. In his early years, he became a Master of Fencing. Later, he loved to play and coach mens soccer. He also loved to travel. Especially to his beloved Ukraine, where he often visited his family and friends. He was a computer whizz and there wasn't anything he didn't know how to do. He was always advanced in computer knowledge. However, his greatest love was for his family and friends for whom he would do anything for.

Wasyl was predeceased by his grandparents, Wasyl and Anna Kordupel and father, Stefan. He leaves to mourn his loving family, mother Katherine and sisters, Helen (Nick) and Luba. Many friends in Winnipeg and Toronto and relatives and friends in Ukraine.

A funeral service, officiated by Fr. Bohdan Lukie, will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Avenue, with internment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
