William ( Bill ) Andrusiak
June 19, 1927 - Dec 20, 2020
With sadness, we say goodbye to Bill, a loving uncle. Bill had a good life over his 93 years. He was born and grew up in the north end of Winnipeg, and spent his life working in his father’s hardware store. Andrusiak’s Hardware, the first Ukrainian hardware & paint store in Winnipeg, was established in 1922.
Bill will be missed by his nephew, Gregory Berko, of Calgary, Alberta, and niece, Lorraine Wise, of Grosse Isle Michigan, along with 18 great & great great nieces & nephews.
His great interest in life was the weekend fishing trip, to a variety of locations on the Winnipeg River, & in the Whiteshell Park.
Bill was a member of St. Mary the Protectress, Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, all his life.
He didn’t care what anyone thought of him, how he dressed, or what he did in keeping his homestead, shipshape. He was his own person and proud of it.
He was predeceased by his parents, Sawa & Justyna Andrusiak, and sisters, Anna Strokon ( Walter ) & Maria Berko ( George ).
We would like to thank all the care workers at the Convalescent Home, Hugo Street, for their compassion & attention, to Bill’s needs in the past two years.
In his memory, please think of something that you have always meant to do, and do it.
In lieu of the current restrictions, no formal service will be held. Funeral arrangements will be taken care of, by Korban Funeral Chapel.
