It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria on June 27 at St. Boniface Hospital after a hard fought battle with cancer.
She was predeceased by her four brothers, her husband, Leo, and her grandson, Jimmy. She leaves behind, to cherish her memory her children, Doug (Karen), Cheryl (Richard), Lori (Jim). Her grandchildren, Jason (Shay), Melanie (Dave), Aubrey, Lorissa, Rhianna (Matt), Tyler (Heidi). Great-grandchildren, Dahlia, Jacob, Zachary and Olivia.
Born on October 6, 1936 in Winnipeg, she was the baby to four older brothers. She grew up in Medika and at the young age of 15, met the love of her life, Leo, in a neighbouring town. They fell in love and were married in May of 1953. They then moved to Fort Erie where they started their family. With stops along the way, they returned to Winnipeg where they found their forever home as a family of five.
She had a multifaceted career and enjoyed many different jobs throughout her life.
Gloria could often be found in her kitchen where she would pinch perogies and roll holupchi to be sure her family were never without her tasty treats.
Many summers were spent in Brinka. Some of her favourite times were of when the entire family would make the trek down the tracks to enjoy the cottage with them.
Gloria will be loved and missed by her family and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 3rd at 7pm at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. A private interment will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface palliative care and encourage donations to be made to them, in lieu of flowers.
